В юбилейный для Кунгура год старейшее городское предприятие "Обувщик" отметило бы 294 года. В хорошие для "Обувщика" времена на предприятии трудилось более 4 тыс. работников. Кунгурская обувь "носилась" по всей стране и за рубежом. Главным инициатором установки памятника кунгурским обувщикам выступила председатель профсоюзной организации кожевенно-обувного комбината Светлана Бронникова.
Автором скульптуры является династия мастеров Кривощёковых
